A terribly disappointing defeat

Paras Khadka - Nepal captain

It was horrible the way we played today. We may have bowled Tanzania out for 117 but our batting was horrendous. Nobody pulled their weight out there and I’m hugely disappointed in myself and the team.

The only positive I think we can take from this match is that it isn’t the last one of the tournament and we still have the opportunity to show the true skills that we know we have.

Rahul’s (Vishvakarma) bowling was good today but out fielding was not up to scratch, we let catches go, our run-outs didn’t hit the target and we were just not sharp enough.

When it came to batting the batsmen were not responsible and I believe as a side we were complacent, which is something we cannot afford to be in this tournament. This is not how I want my team to be in this event, we have to be positive and know our strengths, be focused and remember the basic skills of cricket and start from scratch. I want my team to remember how we got here to Division 4 and to continue out of this division we must simply play better cricket.

Tomorrow we face Argentina, who played well today against a strong Italy side and I hope we can pick ourselves up and bring home a victory for our country.

Congratulation for today's win against Argentina and i hope you will continue this performance in tomorrow's match against America. We lost USA in the last metting in the final held in Nepal and we can repeat and we should repeat otherwise our hope will mix with the tears and sorrow we faced since qualifying round for 2007 Wc. Best of luck for Tomorrow. We should not loss to any team now and we should enter the 3rd division to show the quality of our Nepalese cricket to the world.

Paras, Be positive. That is all i have to say. I played with all of you guys and i know how you play. Do not let yourself down in any moment. Cricket is not decided until that last run is scored or the last bowl is bowled. I know you guys are very good cricketer and have very good cricketing mind and i want you guys to win. Do not stop playing shot. You do that all the time regardless of the situation and you should encourage the guys to do the same. In my opinion, the moment we start slowing down, the opponent takes over. If the ball is there to hit, please hit. Tell me regards to all the boys and good luck. No matter where i am, i am always in the field with you guys. Good luck for the rest of the game.

we need to have a fixed batting order Paras.. n then batsman will feel their responsibility... i m 100 sure we have couple of batsman who could single handedly win these low scoring scores...

Although it was a good performance with the bowl, batting as in most defeats let us down. Common guys, pull up your shocks & be counted. Nepal needs you.

  • Rabin Koriala on August 18, 2010, 6:26 GMT

Do not worry boys! Learn from your mistakes and add experienced players like Paresh(Lohani) in your squad. Improve bating and fielding. Push solid defensive players at the top of the order. Move Shakti (Gauchan)one spot up in the batting order. Paras should bat with lower middle order.

  • Mahendra on August 18, 2010, 5:34 GMT

why do you frequently change the batting order? Please be consistent with it. Why do you use M. Alam as an oper, he looks he is good finisher.

  • Ananta on August 18, 2010, 5:02 GMT

Guys..don't try too many batting options..stick to the original order & don't put pressure on the bowlers to win the match always..I am positive that It's not the end of the show...we can comfortabally quality for next Division!!...gud luk!!

Best of luck Paras, and entire team. Do not be disappointed with the loose of a battle, you have to win the war.. go and show you game. We Nepalese are behind you.

  • Raj on August 17, 2010, 22:41 GMT

It seems you wanted a flying start win with good run rate. It seems you instructed opening batsmen to go for quick start. That's why we loss. It was really disappointing. You need to include one specialist batsman drop one bowler. Good Luck still have good chance.
