NZ Test selectors recall Parore, Spearman, McMillan
New Zealand cricket selectors have overlooked the poor recent form of wicketkeeper Adam Parore and batsmen Craig Spearman and Craig McMillan, and recalled the trio for the first Test against Australia in Auckland on Saturday.
Parore, McMillan and Spearman, who were dropped during the recent one-day series won by Australia 5-1, have been chosen along with Test regulars opener Matthew Horne and left-arm seamer Shayne O'Connor. Middle-order batsman Roger Twose, rookie keeper Chris Nevin and allrounders Scott Styris and Chris Harris are the players to way.
Spin duo Daniel Vettori and Paul Wiseman were named in the 12 on the typically turning Eden Park wicket, leaving O'Connor likely to carry the drinks.
Australia will not select its team until after the warm-up match against Northern Districts which ends Wednesday.
New Zealand: Stephen Fleming (capt), Matthew Horne, Craig Spearman, Mathew Sinclair, Nathan Astle, Craig McMillan, Chris Cairns, Adam Parore, Daniel Vettori, Paul Wiseman, Simon Doull, Shayne O'Connor.
