Former Vidarbha captain and coach Vijay Telang has died aged 61. Telang, who played first-class cricket between 1970-86, scored 2724 runs in 50 games and also took seven wickets.
In April 2012, Telang took over as coach of the Vidarbha Ranji side, after having coached the Under-16 and Under-19 teams for Vidarbha. He stepped down from the post in September 2012, before the 2012-2013 season began, citing health reasons. Telang also served as a selector within the Vidarbha Cricket Association.
