Sethi eyes amendment to Amir ban

Najam Sethi, the PCB chairman, has said the Pakistan board stands to gain US$450 million (PKR 44.4 billion approx.) over the next eight-year cycle. Speaking on his return from the ICC meeting in Melbourne, where the governing body was restructured, Sethi said that more than half that revenue would come from the proposed series' with India.

"Until last year, we had been getting $10 million per year on average and in last seven years we got around $70 million from ICC fixtures [World Cup, Champions Trophy, etc]," Sethi said. "But now I can confirm with full confidence that Pakistan will be getting $150 million dollars in next eight-year cycle from ICC events, which is almost double the previous amount, which I think is a big achievement.

"By playing India we will be getting $300 million from just four series in next eight-year cycle, according to which India will only host two series."

The PCB had said last week that it had "binding agreements" with the BCCI to play these six series. However, Sethi now said the boards had agreed to play the series' but were yet to sign documents that would make them mandatory. "With India, we are yet to sign a binding bankable document but we are seeking to transform the present agreement biding into a bankable binding. ICC has given us a sample draft, a sort of agreement between two boards, which will be amended accordingly.

"It was never a must to play each other and if any board pulled out of their commitment there was no penalty at all. But this time we can make it a bankable commitment."

Politics, though, Sethi said, could still prove to be a stumbling block. "It's up to the boards to make up a legal and bankable agreement, but again in case the governments of either country do not want to play, you can't do anything. That's something beyond our control."

Isn't it interesting that India is the major revenue for them? why not invite west Indies, New Zeeland ,Bangladesh, Zimbabwe ? Where are the haters for the Big 3 ?The Big 3 are the three teams who produce the nearly all of the revenues. If I had my way India would form a shadow ICC to get away from the ICC monopoly, in this manner cricket will be better off and player could make more money. It will definitely create an opportunity for cricket in America. USACA would cease to exist if an alternate body was created which could compete with them. This can only be accomplish if a new governing body is created. I do hope that this tour is successful as the people of Pakistan deserves it.

Pakistan should invest more into grassroots and the incomes of players such that they do not follow the likes of Salman Bhatt.

Good news. Have 5-test series in india and 3-test series in UAE. UAE is too hot to play 5 tests. The heat will sap players' energy.

Glad to know Pakistan will make that money. Pak/Ind is definitely worth something. No need to even guess how much India will be getting but imagine how much ICC will be getting which will be spread around all new and financially weak teams.

    Keep it up India!

Haha PCB, seeing $$$ now on their eyes :D Good for them. That's what a series with India does and That's exactly why BCCI has become a giant. I want to see good cricket, want to see India improving their win-lose ratio with Pakistan, Since Dhoni's "midas-touch" captaincy days, we haven't had many chances to play Pakistan, wish we had, Our Limited-overs win-lose ratio against Pakistan having Dhoni as captain is awesome.

Well it shows that listening to BCCI make things better financially. PCB was on the verge of being bankrupt and now after accepting India's offer they are gonna be one of the rich cricket board. Good for them however, it makes me chuckle when I remember their protest and all that screaming around when the idea of big 3 was introduced

Sethi Sahib please don't count the chicken before they are hatched :) It is too fragile a relationship to look that far in case of Pak and India. 2015 series will be a good starter if it happens.
