Davey Jacobs's 128 was not enough to save the Eagles from a 92-run
loss against the Titans at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. Set a target of
416 to win, the Eagles were bowled out for 323 with the Titans bowlers
all sharing the wickets. Jacques Rudolph, who scored 58, and Jacobs put up
some early resistance while Craig Thyssen (33) and Jacobs put together a
95-run sixth wicket partnership. Once that stand was broken the
end came quickly as the Titans walked away with 18.5 points.
The Lions lost two quick wickets in the morning to give the Dolphins a glimmer of
hope of victory, but a 105 from Vaughn van Jaarsveld and a 137-run
partnership with Matthew Harris (49 not out) put the match beyond either
team. The Lions declared at 283 for 5, leaving the Dolphins an unrealistic
target of 340. When the match was called off Natal had moved to 165 for
3, with Doug Watson unbeaten on 70.
The Cobras beat the Warriors in three days, in a game which ended yesterday.
