The ICC has formalised the scope of IS Bindra's role as its principal advisor. Bindra, who began his two-year tenure in the newly-created post in July, will focus on "developing the game in China, implementing the ICC vision, assisting relations between the ICC and its members, and working with host members to ensure the success of ICC events."
"I am very pleased to have formalised my role within the ICC and having already worked alongside David [Morgan, the ICC president] for the past two months, I look forward to continuing to do so," Bindra said in a statement. "My vision of the role of principal advisor is simple: to do whatever I can, alongside the ICC's members, to strengthen the game and the ICC's role within it."
Bindra, a former BCCI chief, said the ICC was keen on cricket's growth in China. "The work in developing the game in China is exciting," he said. "It has a huge potential for growth and, with the Asian Cricket Council, we will explore ways of ensuring cricket is able to get a secure foothold within the country that we can continue to build upon."
Morgan was pleased that an agreement had been reached on Bindra's role. "Inderjit has already been acting in the role of ICC principal advisor since July. But we have now agreed the areas he will focus on and I am delighted to have done so."
