Terrific at Trent Bridge, brilliantly belligerent at Bristol, and now, magnificent in Manchester - Harmanpreet Kaur and her side reach out for history, and the England women's T20I series hoodoo has finally been broken! And it has been snapped on the English patch, where Indians and this team will rejoice tonight, and where the rest of the world, when the big event comes around next year, will view India as contenders like never before! Coming back to the ball. This is slanted in full on middle and leg. Rodrigues telegraphs the line early, gets down on one knee and paddles it fine. Her arms go up in celebration promptly, and that is soon echoed by those in the Indian camp. Another fairly dominating display in England against England, and the hosts leave Manchester will more questions propping up!
ENG Women vs IND Women, 4th T20I at Manchester, ENG-W vs IND-W, Jul 09 2025 - Match Result
IND Women won by 6 wickets (with 18 balls remaining)
9:46pm That will be all from us for tonight. We hope you enjoyed our coverage just as much as we loved bringing it to you. Until next time, from Shashwat, Harshith and the entire team, it is goodbye!
Radha Yadav, Player of the Match: From the start, we were fully pumped up and looking forward to this game. It was really important for us. We are definitely working really hard on each and every delivery - on spinning the ball, yorkers, everything, and it is helping us. (On assessing the pitch) It was easy for us today, because it was familiar for our bowling. We did our job as a whole unit and I am happy for all of us. All the bowlers did really well and looking forward to the next game. This (fielding) is the one part we were trying to get better at. We are actually putting in a lot of efforts to get better each day and the results are showing.
Harmanpreet Kaur, India captain: We are really grateful that we were able to do that (win the series). Really proud of the team, with the way we played. We really needed that momentum and happy with the way they all contributed. We had very good camps (before coming here) and we worked on all of our plans and accordingly, we have executed here. Everyone knew their role and that is how we played. We have now played three seasons of the WPL and every season has been special - we have gotten a lot of experience. We got a lot of positivity and a good sign that we are able to execute in international cricket as well. (On wanting to make it 4-1) We need to keep doing the right things again and again and hopefully we can do that.
Tammy Beaumont, England captain: Contrasting two games in charge. It was always going to be tough defending that score. Wanted 150 to have a chance on a wicket that was offering (something) to the spinners (and pace bowlers). (On what went wrong with the bat) Soft dismissals (myself included), not good enough at this level. They bowled really well, we could not adapt quickly enough, and kept losing wickets. It (the pitch in Manchester) has always got potential to offer something to the slower bowlers. We thought it would offer quicker bounce, someone like Filer would get bounce. But credit to India, they adapted quickly and stuck to their guns. (On the approach to the final match) We want to put on a show for the home fans. With a bit of pressure off, we want to go out and show what we can do. We have to all put our hands up and try and make it 3-2.
9:31pm There was a brief patch when India were seemingly huffing and puffing, and the required run-rate was getting closer to a run-a-ball. But before that and after that, India were clinical (barring the odd moment of indecision). Shafali and Mandhana set up the run-chase, with Shafali taking England apart in the powerplay and getting India well ahead of the contest. Mandhana was a little more subdued, but her 31-ball 32 also laid the foundation for the visitors. Rodrigues stayed till the end to ensure there were no further hiccups, with Harmanpreet, although not at her fluent best, also doing her bit through the middle.
England will look back at this game and feel they never really put India under enough pressure. They did not have many runs on the board, and then leaked too many in the opening few overs. There was a tight period that followed but as it turned out, that only delayed the inevitable. They have now lost this T20I series, and given all the pre-series optimism, that will be a tough pill to swallow, despite the injuries. Stick around for the post-match presentation.
darted in full on middle and leg. Ghosh turns it towards mid wicket and gets Rodrigues on strike. Scores level!
floated up full just outside off. Ghosh seems intent on the lofted shot initially before adjusting mid-way and driving it all along the ground to mid off
sloppy in the field, and Ghosh gets her first boundary! Full and wide outside off again. Ghosh gets her head over the ball and cracks it towards extra cover. Dunkley probably gets done in by a bad bounce, and India within touching distance now!
and she goes for it straightaway! Tossed up outside off. Ghosh plants her front foot and throws her hands at it. Slices it a little and gets it over extra cover for a brace
Ghosh walks in, with India needing eight. A couple of big hits will do...
oh dear - that is very ordinary calling, and Amanjot has to walk off! Fired in full on the pads. Amanjot works it towards deep backward square leg and calls for the second straightaway. Dean, though, is sharp off her mark and gets her throw away quickly too. Amanjot, despite a sprawling dive, is at least a yard short, and India lose another!
Ecclestone to bowl out. India need only nine more
short and sliding down leg. Amanjot swivels, uses the angle and pulls it down to fine leg to get off the mark
Amanjot in at 5. England have six in the circle
clothed straight to mid off, and that will be that for Harmanpreet Kaur tonight! This is in the slot outside off and there to be hit. Harmanpreet, though, perhaps does not quite pick the pace-on delivery, and is a touch late into the stroke. Miscues her lofted shot in the process and offers the simplest of catches to Ecclestone in the ring. Not the most fluent innings the India captain will ever play, but it has, more or less, ensured a victory in Manchester!
into the blockhole outside off. Harmanpreet cannot get under it and clinks it towards extra cover
cheeky, cheeky batting! Slower ball on a length on off. Harmanpreet moves across and then waits for the ball, and when it does arrive, Harmanpreet uses her wrists majestically to lap it away to the fine leg fence!
zipped in fuller and quicker on off stump. Rodrigues presses forward and knocks it to long on
off-pace on a shortish length just outside off. Keeps a little low and Rodrigues adjusts to tug it between deep mid wicket and deep square leg. Scampers back for a brace
17 off 30, and this game very much in India's control now. Wong to bowl
back of a length on off. Rodrigues goes back and across before bunting it into the mid wicket region. Calls for two initially but abanonds that idea mid-way into the first run
Around the wicket
safe! Full just outside off. Harmanpreet gets down on one knee and has a massive mow across the line. Cloths it a little, though, and she is fortunate that does not carry to deep mid wicket
back to back boundaries for the skipper! Dean over-corrects and drags this one down, on middle and leg. Harmanpreet gets inside the line and wallops it behind square. One bounce and into the fence!
Harmanpreet finally nails one, and that is another vital boundary! Dean hangs it up full and wide, and Harmanpreet feasts on it. She holds her shape, goes through the line and creams it over cover!
darted in on a length on middle and off. Harmanpreet moves across her stumps, trying to lap it away. Gets hit on the glove and the ball pings into her body in the end
slow and short outside off. Plenty of revs and over-spin on this and Harmanpreet, looking for the cut, is beaten by the slight extra bounce
Dean to bowl out. 27 off 36 now. England need wickets
thumped back down the ground, and Rodrigues releases the pressure! Right in the slot just outside off and Rodrigues takes full toll. She swings through the line and bangs it over the bowler's head!
just short of Ecclestone! Cutter on a full length just outside off. Harmanpreet plants her front foot and powers it uppishly towards mid off. Ecclestone dives forward but cannot get there
