Smeed, Gregory turbocharge South Group leaders Somerset

Half-century for James Vince keeps Hampshire interested but asking rate proves too steep

Somerset 209 for 7 (Smeed 68, Gregory 55) beat Hampshire 192 for 7 (Vince 54, Green 3-40) by 17 runs
Lewis Gregory clubbed a brutal half-century as Somerset defeated Hampshire Hawks by 17 runs at the Cooper Associates Ground to return to winning ways and move clear of Surrey at the top of the Vitality Blast South Group table.
Will Smeed smashed 68 from 37 balls with nine fours and three sixes and dominated stands of 59 and 46 with Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Abell for the second and third wickets respectively after Somerset had been put in beneath the Taunton floodlights. But the home side lost their way during the middle overs and were indebted to skipper Gregory, who clubbed a much-needed 55 from 27 balls with four fours and four sixes and staged a record-breaking seventh-wicket partnership of 82 with Lewis Goldsworthy to propel the cider county to 209 for 6. Veteran allrounder Benny Howell claimed 2 for 12 and Liam Dawson 1 for 29 as the Hawks struggled to contain the South Group leaders.

Kemp then built upon solid foundations, raising a forthright 65 not out from 38 balls, striking seven fours and two sixes to propel the visitors to 169 for 6.

Monank, Bracewell, Pollard lead MI New York to 201 target for first win

Kyle Mayers had helped Seattle Orcas put up 200 before their sloppy fielding and MINY's powerful batting in the death overs finished the game

MI New York 203 for 3 (Monank 93, Bracewell 50, Raza 2-37) beat Seattle Orcas 200 for 5 (Mayers 88, Jahangir 43)
MI New York finally got a 'W' against their name in MLC 2025 by the time all teams have played three of their ten league games. MI New York did it in style, although after a slow start in their chase of 201 against Seattle Orcas that gave them some tense moments in the last game played in Oakland this season. They managed just 38 for 1 in the powerplay and before his opening partner Monank Patel took off to end with 93 off 50 balls before allrounders Michael Bracewell and Kieron Pollard saw them home with an over to spare.
Orcas opted to bat in search of their first win of the season and changed the batting order and the XI to change their fortunes. Kyle Mayers dropped down to No. 4 after bagging a duck in their last game and the move worked as he walked out when Orcas were 30 for 2 towards the end of the powerplay once captain David Warner and Aaron Jones fell cheaply. Mayers and Shayan Jahangir then struck a six every over for five overs in a row while Mayers also got a life when Tajinder Singh dropped a sitter on the off side. More sixes followed before Jahangir holed out for 43 off 34 that ended the third-wicket stand of 77 off 49 balls that took them past 100 in the 14th over.

Levitt 90 leads Netherlands to victory over Scotland

McMullen and Leask's contributions weren't enough for Scotland to chase down 199

Netherlands 198 for 7 (Levitt 90, Edwards 31, Davidson 2-29) beat Scotland 181 for 9 (McMullen 51, Leask 46, Nidamanuru 3-30, van der Merwe 2-44) by 17 runs
Opener Michael Levitt's breezy 90 helped Netherlands beat Scotland by 17 runs in a high-scoring contest in the T20I tri-series in Glasgow on Wednesday. His 57-ball innings lifted Netherlands to 198 for 7 after they were asked to bat. In reply, Scotland managed only 181 for 9 on the back of Brandon McMullen's half-century and Michael Leask's quickfire 46.
Netherlands lost Max O'Dowd and Teja Nidamanuru inside the powerplay but it was the 75-run third-wicket partnership off 45 balls between Levitt and Scott Edwards that steered Netherlands to a competitive total. While Levitt, who had scored a T20I century before, smashed six fours and five sixes in his knock, Edwards chipped in with a 21-ball 31. Fast bowler Charlie Cassell broke the threatening stand, trapping Edwards lbw in the 13th over. Three overs late, Levitt was dismissed by fast bowler Jasper Davidson. There were also handy lower-order contributions from Ryan Klein and Roelof van der Merwe that ensured Netherlands had enough on the board.
