Dropped short outside leg, eases to deep fine leg and he calmly gets his team over the line
DC vs Warriors, 14th Match at Sharjah, ILT20, Jan 29 2024 - Match Result
Warriors won by 9 wickets (with 41 balls remaining)
And that brings the curtain down on the 14th game of ILT20. Join us tomorrow for the match between Desert Vipers and MI Emirates in Dubai but for now, from Rvel Zahid and our scorer Thilak Ramamurthy, it's goodbye and thank you for joining us!
David Warner, Dubai Capitals Captain: We weren't good enough with bat again, wicket played little bit different to what we thought, got to give credit to how the bowled, executed very well but we got to be better with the bat....our shot selection was not good enough, we know the Dubai surface better. We were little bit conservative, they are allowed to bowl good balls but I think we lacked intent
Tom-Kohler-Cadmore, Sharjah Warriors Captain: Bowlers made our job easier, it's not the easiest pitch to play spin, Watt bowling three overs in the powerplay wasn't easy, but he got them right behind in the run rate. Everyone chipping in (batting) Guptill is okay, he will get scans and get checked out, he looks optimistic which is good.
Mahsesh Theekshana, Player of the Match: After the powerplay, Watt bowled three overs and got momentum, I wanted to bowl more dot balls and built pressure, bowled wicket to wicket, surface was little bit slower, got little bit turn but not much. I think because we've got experienced players like Woakes and Sams, so we are performing as a team and our performances were good collectively. In Abu Dhabi, I was bowling at the T10 and bowled in T20 World Cup 2021, I know the wickets.
Sharjah Warriors win by nine wickets in a completely one-sided affair. Dubai Capitals just couldn't get accustomed to the conditions and got bowled out for a paltry 104, which proved to be a walk in the park affair for Warriors. This resounding win will give them a massive boost to their NRR. The David Warner-led side will go back to the drawing board and see where it went wrong. It was a mighty powerful bowling display from Warriors and as a result of that, they made life easier for the batters, who weren't perturbed in pursuit of 105. Charles slammed 43, and Denly got 23 to cap off an easy win. Can't really blame Capitals' bowlers, who had a low total to defend. Theekshana had a ball today and nearly picked up a fifer; he mixed it up really nicely and exploited the conditions superbly. Sharjah win their third and jump to No.2 on the points table and Capitals plunge to No.4 after a crushing defeat
Akif into the attack, packed off-side field
Low full toss on off, slapped to Warner at cover
looped up fuller on off, clothes it down to long off and is content to settle for a run as scores are level
round the wicket, he comes down the track and is yorked, manages to push to long off
nice loopie off-break on off, squirted to point region in front of square
Drops short and offers some room, he cashes in with a cut and places it in the gap at backward point for a four
pressed down to long off for a run
goes deep in his crease and works it off his pads to midwicket, van der Merwe sprints to his right and fields off his own bowling, always a livewire in the field
attempts a cut and misses. Tossed up fuller and quicker outside, kept a touch low
Tossed up on a length, sliding across off, plinked across the line into the empty pockets at deep midwicket
makes room and thwacks a cut past point for a run
Cries of catch it but he has got all of it! In the slot and hoicked out sight! Dances down the track and sends it for a trip over long-off into the stands
Slower on a length outside off, accounts for the turn, waits patiently and then steers it towards short third, gets off-strike
floated up on a shortish length around the line off, saw him advancing and cleverly pulled his length back, punched to cover
looped up on a length with slower pace on middle and off, tapped away to cover-point
quicker full length ball on middle, surprised him but he does well to dig it out past mid on
ambles to the crease smoothly with a nice windmill arc of an action, lands it on a length on middle, chopped to point and dashes across to the other end
lobbed up, he shimmies to the leg side and hacks it away to deep point
round the wicket, length on middle, neatly played through the line back to the bowler
Tossed up on leg, nudged to deep square
