Chandimal gets down on one knee and slices Anderson over cover for four to end the match!
England vs Sri Lanka, 3rd ODI at London, Jul 03 2011 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Sri Lanka move into a 2-1 series lead with a six-wicket win. A slightly bizarre finish at the end, but Chandimal did the job for his team, and thumps the badge over his heart as he walks off to a standing ovation. One always felt that England's 246 wouldn't be quite enough on a belter of a pitch, and Chandimal answered Cook's ton with a century of his own to take his team home. It'll be interesting to hear what Dilshan has to say at the presentation, stick with us for that.
"I am a SL fan, but that was the most disgraceful display of selfishness by Chandimal. Somebody needs to teach him :Country before self" Quite right Vis8, but a century at Lord's for a 21-year-old is a great moment for him.
Sanjiv: "@vis8 - Personally I dont think this is Chandimals fault at all. Angelo was defending every ball and was the senior man in the partnership. Also, Chandimal nearly got run out when he wanted a single and Angelo didnt so that clearly shows that Chandimal wanted things to move on." This issue is really splitting our feedbackers.
Match referee Alan Hurst, who will bow out at the end of this series, gets a special medal to commemorate his 100th match to start things off.
"We need to bounce back," a disappointed Alastair Cook says to Athers. "We kept losing wickets at the wrong time, we always seemed to be rebuilding. It's always nice to score runs, but disappointing to do it in a losing cause. There are a lot of areas we can improve on. We have to keep striving to take wickets on flatter wickets, these things don't change overnight and need hard work."
"We won comfortably in the end," says a smiling Tillakaratne Dilshan. "I was a little tense at the end, but they are youngsters, they are learning, and I'm happy with them," he says of Mathews and Chandimal's partnership. "This wicket was really flat, a 280-290 wicket. The important thing for Chandimal was that he won the game for us. We are very confident after the last two games, and looking forward to winning the series."
"I did well because I just played my normal game," says Man of the Match Dinesh Chandimal. "I thank my captain and team-mates for their support."

full on off stump, punched to cover
Anderson to finish things off
full and straight, driven very hard but straight to mid-on
a full toss is tapped back to the bowler
pushed to leg, no single to be had
Actually, I must point out that there were plenty of smiles and clapping on the balcony, although Dilshan wasn't smiling just yet
dug out into the leg side for a single
finally! There's the hundred, Chandimal smashing the ball over wide long-on! Sri Lanka's fans are delirious with joy, as is Chandimal - who gets a big hug from a relieved Mathews - but there are some stony faces on the Sri Lanka balcony
No runs off the last nine deliveries!
Chandimal gives himself acres of room and digs out a yorker to point
12th man sprints on with gloves, a drink and a strongly-worded message! Umpire Nigel Llong swiftly sends him from the field, and all sorts of England players are having a go at the batsmen now, KP leading the way.
a maiden! Full toss on off stump and Mathews just taps it gently back to the bowler
what is going on out there? Mathews glances out to fine leg, and says no to the single! Dilshan is standing up and shouting from the balcony, he really isn't happy!
ha, left alone!
12th man is on the boundary waving a pair of gloves about, he's obviously been given a message to deliver!
very full on off stump, dug out back to the bowler
All sorts of people shouting down from Sri Lanka's balcony, they just want them to seal the game!
full on off stump, defended to mid-onA
past the outside edge! There didn't seem anything too special about the delivery, it was just on a good length outside off and he pushed inside it
another attempted paddle, this time it fizzes right past him. And Mathews will have the strike in the next over!
a low full toss is dug out to mid-off
"I would laugh my head off, if SL some how end up losing this game now..." says Amir. Indeed, they ought to get on with it.
Chandimal attempts the Dilscoop and gets a faint touch on it, Kieswetter leaps but can't stop it and they sprint through for two
nudged through square leg, another single
Chandimal is getting an earful from KP now, and neither Law nor Dilshan seem too happy with the tactics. Just win the game!
full toss, Chandimal tries to go down the ground but doesn't come close to timing it. This time the single is taken
Dilshan is scowling at him from the balcony, he doesn't like this
great yorker, Chandimal digs it out to square leg ... and turns down the run!
And the Batting Powerplay is taken. Bresnan will bowl. Chandimal has 91.
