Lee: "You shouldn't be losing a chase of 113 when a batter's faced 47 balls..."

No arguments from here Lee! Harmanpreet may have top-scored but there was no sense of urgency at any point in her innings, both in her strokeplay and in her running between the wickets. She looked like she may be carrying an injury and spent a lengthy period on the field getting treatment for her lower back. If she misses any time for the Originals, that will further dent their chances of progressing in this tournament.

Match Hero is Kirstie Gordon, not just for her bowling but for her superb fielding: "I'm really happy. It was really important for us to get the first win on the board. We were probably a few runs light but we made up with that in how we bowled. It was a really exceptional performance. It was holding up a bit slow. That was the advantage bowling second. We knew the conditions well and played to our strengths. I enjoyed the pressure and the occasion. I'm absolutely loving it and I'm hoping we can go the whole way."

Mixed debate going on about Harmanpreet's innings both on TV and in the comments section entering our feedback. Plenty to chew on ahead of the next match of the doubleheader between the correspondent men's sides. But that's it for this match. For Alan Gardner, I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!

Elwiss to Kaur, 2 runs

full on middle, backs away to carve a lofted drive over extra cover for an easy two. They opt not to sprint for a third in an effort to get Harmanpreet to a cosmetic half-century. The Phoenix come out on top comfortably in the end.

1
Elwiss to Jackson, 1 run

full on off stump, punched to mid-off.

98
1
Elwiss to Kaur, 1 run

good length ball outside leg stump following Harmanpreet backing away again, chips this gently toward long-off.

97
Elwiss to Kaur, no run

full on the legs, backs away to heave over midwicket and inside edges this into her pads.

96
1
Elwiss to Jackson, 1 run

full on the stumps, dug out to long-on.

95
W
Elwiss to Griffith, OUT

backs well away from leg stump trying to carve over cover and clear a stacked infield ring. But Griffith doesn't get the elevation and picks out Gordon at extra cover who takes a simple catch at rib height. Far easier catch than her sprinting/diving effort earlier.

3
Elwiss to Kaur, 3 runs

full on the legs, flicks this through backward square. Diving effort on the rope by Burns to turn four into three.

93
1
Elwiss to Griffith, 1 run

backs away from leg stump and is followed by Elwiss, flicks this into wide long-on for a very long single. Again with the game reaching the closing stages, no urgency to put pressure on the fielders to make an accurate throw to deny a second.

92
2
Elwiss to Griffith, 2 runs

good length on the stumps, pulls this flat through wide midwicket and they come back for a pair.

Piyush: "People complaining about Harnam, I don't see a single compelling shot (forget innings) from the other end.." Fair point, but Harmanpreet hasn't shown the slightest sense of urgency with her running between the wickets in particular and that is the issue. There have been twos on offer when she's placed the ball into gaps but she has been settling for one on almost every occasion.

91
W
Elwiss to Cross, OUT

good length ball on leg stump, tries to reverse paddle this and misses off the pads. Big appeal for lbw initially but Jones has had a brilliant game behind the stumps and collects the ball to whip the bails off with Cross wandering out in search of a leg bye.

Kate Cross st †AE Jones b Elwiss 1 (3b 0x4 0x6 5m) SR: 33.33

Elwiss back with 10 balls left. She can bowl 10 straight if she wants.

Gordon to Kaur, 2 runs

Harmanpreet charges a full ball on sixth stump and slices a drive wide of long-off, Cross is charging hard from the non-striker's end off contact to make the second possible.

89
1
Gordon to Cross, 1 run

full on middle, uses her feet to chip firmly toward long-on for one.

88
Gordon to Cross, no run

very very full on middle, jams this out into her feet.

87
W
Gordon to Ecclestone, OUT

clever from Gordon. Ecclestone telegraphed her charge too early. Gordon saw it coming and dragged the line wider on seventh/eighth stump on a good length. Ecclestone nowhere near the pitch and can't reach out to make contact, simple stumping once again.

Sophie Ecclestone st †AE Jones b Gordon 1 (3b 0x4 0x6 5m) SR: 33.33

Gordon to Ecclestone, no run

short on fifth stump, goes to cut and chops this into the ground in front of the keeper.

Abtaha Maqsood 2/14 (20)

Cricket simplet: "Maqsood was so frugally used last game but she's been given the right sets this time to prove her worth.. she is definitely a worth a contender watching in the coming years and should attract a lot of Women T20 leagues.. Go abtaha!!"

short and wide, cuts straight to point, diving stop turns four into a single.

84
1
Maqsood to Ecclestone, 1 run

back of a length on off, goes back to defend.

Bist: "Kaur really needs to get a move on now or get out, she's costing the Originals the game as of now."

83
W
Maqsood to Threlkeld, OUT

the lack of pace from Maqsood produces another wicket. Threlkeld walks way across her stumps trying to sweep very fine behind square, but this 44 mph delivery pitches on leg stump and straightens to knock back the timber as Threlkeld is late on the sweep in the end.

Eleanor Threlkeld b Maqsood 17 (18b 1x4 0x6 31m) SR: 94.44
82
Maqsood to Threlkeld, no run

short on fifth stump, cuts straight to point.

81
1
Maqsood to Kaur, 1 run

short on fifth stump, slapped into the covers for one.

Harmanpreet has risen to her feet and will continue without a sub runner for now.
