cracked between the sweepers at deep square! She thumped this length ball into the gap to find the rope
ENG Women vs THA Women, 7th Match, Group B at Canberra, T20 World Cup, Feb 26 2020 - Match Result
England win by 98 runs. England were far too strong as expected. Thailand produced a couple of moments early having them 2 for 7. But then Heather Knight and Nat Sciver put on a masterclass. Knight made her first T20I century. Then it was a professional performance with the ball. Chantam made 32 but the lack of experience against this kind of bowling was evident. A good win for England. A good learning experience for Thailand.
Heather Knight is Player of the Match.
Heather Knight: "We were gutted after the performance the other day so nice to bounce back. Nice to be able to contribute. It was about staying calm, keeping it simple, not panicking and building a partnership. It's sometimes hard to keep your standards so I thought we did that well. I thought it was quite a clinical performance. Every game is a must win game for us now. We've got a long way to go."
Sornnarin Tippoch: "It was a challenging game for us but we tried to do our best on the field. We're always trying to improve on the aggressive side of our game. In T20 the nature of the game is trying to get runs on the board so we'll work hard on our batting game."
Thanks for your company for this match. It was the first of a double header from Canberra with West Indies taking on Pakistan shortly so stick around for that.
caught at mid on! Slower ball does it. Good length, she swings hard but didn't pick the slower ball and got under it. It went very high towards mid on but Winfield was calm and composed and took a simple catch
good length on off, she's back and forcing to cover-point
fuller into leg stump, she hits this better, flicking it behind square but Wyatt is out there to cut it off
96kph, length ball, she heaves this high to deep midwicket, into the gap for a couple
full on off, she drives to mid on
steps outside off and she paddle sweeps beautifully! Exposed the stumps and just paddled it with the pace past leg stump. Skilful batting
tossed up outside off, she sweeps to midwicket but can't beat the fielder
lovely loop and drop outside off, she swings and misses
arm ball fired short and wide, she misses out trying to cut
tossed up drifting into leg, she drives to long on
short and wide, cut straight to backward point
Naveen S: "I feel thai women will give a surprise to at least one team in this tournament."
slower ball on leg, she swings this away forward of square for two
good length 113kph, down leg, Jones whips the bails off and the square leg umpire sends it upstairs. But her back foot never moved. Always had something grounded. It was a wide
back of the hand slower ball, a high full toss but it dips late, she pushes it to midwicket, they nearly have another run out but wisely get back
good length on off, she's back and defending
direct hit from Shrubsole! Excellent fielding. Liengprasert pushed this off the back foot straight to midwicket and took on Shrubsole, she gathered turned and hit middle at the non striker's end with Liengprasert well short. Slick fielding
slower ball leg cutter, she tries to pull, gets hit on the body and it rolls fine to short third man for a leg bye
pushed through on off, she defends from the crease
Calitha: "One of the things that has to be remembered about the Thailand team is that they've only been playing for 13 years. Unlike every other nation here, they don't have anyone who has grown up playing and watching cricket. And they certainly seem to be learning with every match." Very true Calitha. The England team are world class touring professionals. The Thailand girls are amateurs with nowhere near the money or resources to work at their game.
quicker top spinner outside off, she mistimes trying to get it to long on
