It was the 1656th One-Day International in cricket history. It was India's 455th and Zimbabwe's 166th ODI. It was the 30th match between the two sides. The record now reads: India 23, Zimbabwe 5, tied 2. It was the tenth match between the two sides on Indian soil. The record now reads: India 9, tied one. Reetinder Singh Sodhi made his ODI debut. He became the 135th player to represent India in shorter version of the game. Umpires Jasbir Singh and AV Jayaprakash officiated in their sixth and tenth match respectively. The second wicket partnership of 115 runs between Alistair Campbell and Stuart Carlisle is Zimbabwe's best for this wicket against India in India. This obliterates the previous record stand of 69 between Grant Flower and Murray Goodwin at this same venue on 09-04-1998. However Zimbabwe's highest partnership for second wicket -home or awaystill remains as 125 between Campbell and Goodwin at Bulawayo on 27-09-1998. Stuart Carlisle became the sixth Zimbabwean batsman to make a score in 'nineties'. He also provided the 13th such instance for Zimbabwefirst against India. The other Zimbabweans with scores in 90s are: Grant Flower (four times), Alistair Campbell (thrice), Andy Flower (twice), Neil Johnson (twice) and Craig Evans (once). Ajit Agarkar (10-0-74-2) achieved the dubious distinction of conceding most runs in a match against Zimbabwe. The previous record was held by Sri Lankan Asanka Gurusinha who conceded 72 runs in his 10 overs at New Plymouth on 23-02-1992. Agarkar, interestingly, 'bettered' his own record which was made at Leicester on 19-05-1999 during the ICC World Cup. Agarkar had then conceded 70 runs in his 9 overs. When they added 102 runs for the opening wicket, Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar provided the 11th instance of being involved together in a century patnership for the first wicket. Ganguly and Tendulkar have now aggregated 4309 runs in 93 innings at an average of 47.35. Only West Indians Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes have been involved in more century partnerships (15) and aggregated more runs (5150) in ODIs for first wicket. Dravid was run-out for the 17th time in his career. He has now equalled Navjot Sidhu and Anil Kumble's tally of dismissals in this fashion. Among the Indians only Azharuddin (32), Tendulkar (22), Robin Singh (20), Prabhakar (18) and Jadeja (18) have been run-out on more occasions than Dravid. The sixth wicket stand of 60 runs between Hemang Badani and Vijay Dahiya equals India's highest stand for this wicket-home or away. Kapil Dev and Roger Binny had added 60 runs at Tunbridge Wells on 18-06-1983. Hemang Badani won his maiden MoM award in his fourth match.
