Bland Bankart Cricketer of the Month Award, April/May 2000

The Bland Bankart Plc "Cricketer of the Month" Award for April/May 2000 has been awarded to Phillip DeFreitas.

Phillip has made an immediate impact on his return to Leicestershire CCC in 2000. In the PPP healthcare County Championship he took 20 wickets in 5 games at an average of 22.1. This included impressive match figures of 6-97 versus Somerset and 7-71 versus Hampshire.

Phillip has also scored 79 versus Derbyshire and 81 not out versus Durham in the PPP healthcare County Championship.

Economic bowling performances in the Norwich Union One Day League have also helped Leicestershire to joint third position.

The adjudicating panel have no hesitation in awarding to Phillip DeFreitas the Bland Bankart plc "Cricketer of the Month" Award for April/May.
