Albie Morkel and Johan Botha have been called up to the South Africa squad for the five-match ODI series in Pakistan beginning next week.
The two will join the squad currently playing the second Test in Lahore, along with Charl Langeveldt and Justin Kemp, who has been named deputy to Graeme Smith, the captain.
Botha, an off-break bowler, last played for South Africa in
February 2006, following which his bowling action came under scrutiny. Botha played in the
Afro-Asia Cup held earlier this year, and was the captain of the South African team that won the
Emerging Players Tournament in Australia.
Albie Morkel, the allrounder and brother of Morne, was also in the Africa XI in the Afro-Asia Cup, and played for South Africa in the subsequent ODI series against Zimbabwe and the ICC World Twenty20.
Hashim Amla, Ashwell Prince, Dale Steyn and Paul Harris are the four players from the Test team in Pakistan not to feature in the ODI squad.
South Africa ODI squad: Graeme Smith (capt), Justin Kemp, Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Mark Boucher (wk), Shaun Pollock, Vernon Philander, Albie Morkel, Johan Botha, Makhaya Ntini, Charl Langeveldt, Andre Nel.
