Peter Fulton and Nicola Payne were the outstanding performers at the Canterbury Cricket awards ceremony held last night.
Fulton, named State Canterbury Wizard Player of the Year, also collected the Christchurch Casino Most Outstanding Performance of the Year, for his 301 not out against Auckland in March, and Canterbury Draught Batsman of the Year.
The record-breaking innings also earnt Fulton a special presentation from Canterbury Draught, 301 cans of beer representing one can for each run he scored.
Payne scooped the pool in the women's section, collecting three of the five representative awards, included State Canterbury Magician Air New Zealand Batsman of the Year, Christchurch Casino Most Outstanding Performance and State Player of the Year.
Confirming Payne's domination of the women's awards, she also collected the awards for most runs in senior women's club cricket, most consistent performer at club and Canterbury level and Women's Club Cricket Player of the Year.
The coveted Petersen Shield for overall club excellence went to Lancaster Park Woolston which, in only its fourth year of amalgamation, was an outstanding achievement.
The prestigious Walter Hadlee Trophy, awarded to the first grade men's club team that shows the most consistency in sportsmanship, punctuality and dress was this year won by Burnside West University.
