A report in the Royal Gazette claims that the Bermuda Cricket Board allegedly ignored a recommendation three years ago that Clay Smith, the national captain, be sent overseas to undergo knee surgery.
Smith has been sidelined recently by the injury after eventually having an operation in the US earlier this year.
"I am very sorry to hear that Clay is still injured but I advised the Board in 2003 to send him to America to see a specialist, but they were not interested," Mark Harper, the former national coach, told the newspaper. "Clay is a special talent that can put Bermuda on the map and always gave his best for the team during my time, and you have to invest in your players."
