AB de Villiers has been asked to withdraw from South Africa A's one-day game against England on Thursday by the national selection committee. The reasoning behind the recommendation was that de Villiers required the rest before the start of the seven-match one-day series.
Haroon Lorgat, the national selection convener, said, "AB has had a lot of cricket in the last few days and we feel it would be best for him to rest for before the Standard Bank ODI series starts this weekend."
de Villiers had a successful series with the bat. Only Andrew Strauss, Jacques Kallis and Marcus Trescothick scored more than his 362 runs. In the last Test, he batted just short of nine hours in the match, scoring 92 and 109.
Loots Bosman will replace him in the South Africa A side.
