Delhi Police Comissioner Ajay Raj
Sharma today told CricInfo that the Delhi police have more evidence of
South African cricket captain Hansie Cronje's alledged conversations
with unnamed Indian bookmakers.
Under fire for sparking off what has become an international incident, Sharma was today relieved to hear the news of Cronje's
admission to South African cricket board chiefs.
Sharma claimed that the Delhi police had
been thoroughly scientific in their investigations. "The investigation was
conducted in a thoroughly scientific manner," he said. "We (the Delhi police)
have more evidence besides the tapes." Sharma claimed that the Delhi polics could infact have made their accusation some time ago. "We could have easily made
the case 20 days ago," he added. "Given the fact that we were dealing with
a foreign country, and a friendly country at that, we waited
for sufficient proof before we filed the case."
