Essex give Ricky Anderson contract ultimatum

Essex County Cricket Club has advised Ricky Anderson that his contract offer with the Club will be withdrawn unless it is signed by Friday 18th January 2002.

The Club has been in ongoing negotiations with Ricky since the end of last season, but has been unable to conclude an agreement for the future.

Chief Executive David East commented: "The Club offered Ricky a three-year contract in September last year but, despite numerous attempts to conclude the deal, we have yet to receive his confirmation that he wishes to play for the County this season.

The Club has always viewed Ricky as an important member of the squad and he certainly has featured in Graham Gooch's plans for the future. However, should Ricky choose not to remain at Essex it is crucial that we establish this as soon as possible so that other arrangements can be made to balance our squad."
