White, Sonn likely to step up if Mackerdhuj leaves UCB
By Guy Hawthorne
Cape Town - Western Province president Percy Sonn will take another step up the United Cricket Board's executive ladder before the end of the year.
The indications are becoming clearer that UCB President Krish Mackerdhuj will be taking up a diplomatic post in December.
This automatically will give rise to a mid-term election in which the vice-president Ray White of Gauteng will almost certainly become the new number 1.
He has an outstanding record and is well equipped for the post.
Sonn is the executive's legal expert and is part of the 5- man mini cabinet that runs the day-to-day affairs of the UCB. He is certain to be nominated for vice-president.
