George Nugent, former Canadian international cricketer and Secretary of the Canadian Cricket Association has passed away.
George Nugent ably performed the duties as Secretary of the Canadian
Cricket Association for ten years. George was born in Calcutta in 1926.
He was an outstanding athlete while attending the Lawrence Royal Military
Academy in the Simla Hills.
After service with the British army in the Near East, George emigrated to
British Columbia, Canada in 1948. He was an outstanding left arm bowler,
bowling an immaculate length. He represented Vancouver, British Columbia
and Canada on the field and also in an outstanding manner off the field.
A true gentleman, who served his sport and his country, he will be greatly
missed. May his exemplary service and gentlemanly conduct continue and
thrive in others.
We extend our sympathies to the Nugent family and friends.
