New Zealand Women 272 for 5 (McNeill 88*, Rolls 44) beat Ireland Women 160 (Joyce 67*, Green 5-15) by 112 runs
New Zealand overwhelmed Ireland by 112 runs after scoring 272 for 5. The win was achieved with Rebecca Rolls firing at the top of the order and Beth McNeill stabilizing the innings with a half-century. Amanda Green then took over, claiming five wickets for very little. Only Isobel Joyce could resist New Zealand's onslaught, with her fighting, unbeaten 67.
Earlier in the day, Paula Flannery was the first to go, trapped in front by Barbara McDonald, who later got rid of Maia Lewis as well. But Rolls was there, firing 44 in only 38, before she fell, and was closely followed by Helen Watson (109 for 4). There was trouble looming, but McNeill thwarted it. Finding able support in Haidee Tiffen (34) and then the aggressive Nicola Browne, she scored 88 in quick time and helped her team to 272. Browne gave the score a push as well, with an unbeaten 37 in 25 balls with six boundaries.
Ireland mustered up 160, a big improvement on their response in the last game, when they were bowled out for 78. But most of the runs came off Joyce's bat, for barring her and Grealey, no other player could reach double figures. Ireland were dismissed in 44 overs, and New Zealand have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
