Hampshire name 12 for United Services swansong

All the players rested for the New Zealand 'A' match at Portsmouth last week are recalled to the Hampshire side for the important County Championship Division One clash with Kent, also at the United Services Portsmouth ground.

Robin Smith, Adrian Aymes, Shane Warne (who returns from a holiday in Spain) and Peter Hartley all come into a side that really needs to start winnings, if they are to retain their Division One status for 2001.

This is the 335th and last Hampshire first-class match to be played at Burnaby Road, breaking a link that has continued since 1882, some 118 years.

Hampshire 12 is: Giles White, Jason Laney, Will Kendall, Robin Smith, Derek Kenway, Adrian Aymes, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Shane Warne, Shaun Udal, Peter Hartley, Simon Francis, John Stephenson.
