ICC corrects misleading reports on costing of fourth venue for ICC Champions Trophy 2006

The ICC would like to correct misleading reports in the media suggesting the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) negotiated a reduction in the cost of a fourth venue at this year's ICC Champions Trophy from US$ one million to US$200,000.
The larger figure was arrived at on the basis of an itinerary requested by the BCCI that would have meant the hire of an extra broadcasting unit to provide television coverage.
However, that cost was reduced to approximately US$200,000 when the ICC, taking into account BCCI wishes, revised the schedule and removed the need for that extra unit.
The BCCI accepted that proposal and so any suggestion that it was the BCCI that scaled down the amount it would have to pay is incorrect.
The ICC's Executive Board agreed to the BCCI's request to increase the number of venues used for the tournament from three to four on the basis that the BCCI would cover the cost of that fourth venue.
The tournament will take place in India in October and November and the schedule will be announced in due course.
