INDIA v ENGLAND 1992-93

At Gwalior, March 4

15-Apr-1994
At Gwalior, March 4. India won by three wickets. Toss: India.
This match, which replaced the cancelled game at Ahmedabad, produced excellent cricket but was spoiled by more missile-throwing. This time Stewart was the victim, hit on the head, and slightly hurt, by a piece of concrete. The perpetrator somehow eluded the thousand extra police brought in after the incident at Jamshedpur.
Smith's brilliant century, 129 from 145 balls including 12 fours and four sixes, was the substance of England's innings. But his dismissal at 246 for four started a collapse in which their last seven wickets went for ten runs in 20 balls. India looked doomed when Prabhakar and Kambli fell with only four runs on the board but Sidhu and Azharuddin put on 175 in 28.2 overs for the third wicket. Sidhu, magnificently imperturbable as wickets fell around him, finished unbeaten on 134 to lead India to victory with two overs to spare. It was his third hundred off England's attack on the tour.
Man of the Match: N. S. Sidhu.
