†INDIA v PAKISTAN 1989-90

At Calcutta, October 28

15-Apr-1991
At Calcutta, October 28. Pakistan won by 77 runs. Toss: India. Pakistan, needing to win to qualify for the semi-finals, handsomely overcame India, whose consolation was in scoring the 175 they needed to head the qualifying table. With that honour, however, came the double-edged privilege of meeting the improved West Indians in the Bombay semi-final. A sparkling 120 in 21 overs by Srikkanth and Lamba gave the Indians the start they needed, but once they were out Pakistan's 279, the highest total of the tournament, was never threatened. Imran set the seal on the Pakistan innings with an unbeaten 47 from 39 balls, taking 19 off Kapil Dev in the 50th over.
Man of the Match: Imran Khan.
