India women earned a comfortable eight wickets victory over Sri Lanka to complete a hat-trick of Asia Cup titles at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Thursday.
Sri Lanka, winning the toss and electing to bat, were dismissed for just 93 off 44.1 overs. For India Rumeli Dhar, Devika Palshikar and Jhulan Goswami equally shared six wickets between them.
For Sri Lanka, Chamari Polgampola top scored with 22 while Suwini de Alwis with 11 was the other batsman to reach doubles figures.
India achieved the modest victory target in 27.5 overs with Sunetra Paranjpe contributing 35 not out. She was later adjudged to be player of the match.
India's Thirush Kamini, in her debut series, was jointly adjudged Player of the Tournament along with Sri Lanka's Dedunu Silva. Kamini averaged 33.75 while scoring 135 runs in the competition whereas Silva accumulated 163 runs from five matches at an average of 32.60.
Pakistan, who was the third team in the competition, failed to win any game in the double league tournament.
For India women, it is a year to remember after it reached the final of the Women's World Cup where it lost to Australia. Later in the year, India defeated England in England to win the one-Test series 1-0.
India women will now participate in a quadrangular tournament to be held in Chennai from 15 February to 6th March. Besides the home team, world champions Australia, England and New Zealand will take part.
