Karim hopeful of a comeback for Sahara Cup
Indian wicketkeeper Syed Saba Karim said that he was hopeful
of making it back to the Indian team for the forthcoming Sahara Cup
in Toronto next month. Karim was injured in the opening match of the
Asia Cup in Dhaka in May after being hit on his right
eye while keeping to Anil Kumble.
Speaking to the Times of India from Calcutta, Karim said that he felt
much better now and was looking forward to making the squad for
Toronto. Karim who had undergone surgery at the Shankara Netralaya
hospital in Chennai said that the problems of blurred vision and
double imaging that he suffered had disappeared and added that he had
also done away with the protective spectacles that had been
prescribed.
Karim has even started practice and is now a regular visitor to the
Bournvita Cricket Academy, run by former India opener Arun Lal. He
also practices at the academy run by former Indian batsman Ashok
Malhotra.
Delhi Court reprimands petitioners
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday reprimanded Rahul Mehra and Shantanu
Sharma from going to the media about the comtempt case filed by the
BCCI when the case is still pending before the court. The two had
filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging arbitrary and
non-transparent functioning of the Board of Control for Cricket in
India (BCCI).
The BCCI had in turn filed a contempt case against them alleging
leakage of Information regarding the proceeding of the case through a
web site. The division bench reprimanded the two petitioners saying
that it would not encourage a parallel media trial when the case was
still pending in court.
