At Kolkata, April 4, 2010. Kings XI Punjab won by eight wickets. ‡Kolkata Knight Riders 200-3 (20 overs) (S. C. Ganguly 36, C. H. Gayle 88, M. K. Tiwary 35); Kings XI Punjab 204-2 (18.2 overs) (D. P. M. D. Jayawardene 110*, K. C. Sangakkara 38, Yuvraj Singh 33*). MoM: D. P. M. D. Jayawardene.
Chris Gayle had made only 24 from as many balls by halfway, but woke up to shake and stir Punjab, smiting four successive sixes off a Ravi Bopara over that ended up costing 33. He finished with eight sixes in his 88 from 42 balls. Kolkata reached 200, but Mahela Jayawardene, opening in the place of the injured Shaun Marsh, captivated Eden Gardens with some sumptuous strokeplay in his maiden Twenty20 century.
