Invicta meet Wakefield in the Women's Premier League final

Charlotte Edwards and Barbara Daniels, the two England batsmen who tormented South Africa's bowlers all summer, will play for Invicta LCC (Kent) as they take on Wakefield WCC (Yorks) in the Premier League Final on Saturday 9 September. The final of the competition, run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) sees the winners of the Northern League take on their Southern counterparts. The final will be held at Campbell Park Cricket Ground, Milton Keynes, starting at 12noon. Entry is free.
Invicta, holders of the Premier League title following their win against Yorkshire's North Riding WCC last year, won the Southern league convincingly by 53.5 points .
Wakefield have two established England international players of their own. Kathryn Leng, England's top order batsman and Clare Taylor are looking to secure a double following Yorkshire's County Championship win in August. Yorkshire beat Kent during that competition. Leng had an indifferent international season with the bat, and will look upon the Premier League Final as the last competitive opportunity to score runs before England begin their World Cup preparation.
The medium paced bowling of double international Clare Taylor was instrumental in sustaining Yorkshire's unbeaten run at the County Championships and Wakefield's dominance of the Premier League North Division One. Taylor has represented her country at cricket and football, an honour shared with Sir Viv Richards.
Club cricket continues to grow in popularity amongst women. 44 new clubs were formed last year and existing clubs saw a 19% rise in participation. With the appointment of Women's Club Cricket Development Officers by the ECB in May 2000 to promote club cricket across much of the country, the Premier League is set to flourish.
