Inzamam flying to London to consult specialist
Samiul Hasan
KARACHI, Feb. 2: Pakistans middle-order batsman Inzamamul Haq
leaves for England to consult the specialist about his knee injury which has restricted the burly stroke-maker from giving his
best in the training camp being held in Lahore.
Inzamam, who has been advised complete rest, is desperately banking on a special knee cap invented for sportsmen and used pretty
commonly at international level. The knee cap performs the work
of shock absorbers and allows little strain put on the knee.
Inzamam is carrying the knee injury for the past two years. He
had suffered the blow during the 1994 One-day National Championships when he had slipped while returning for a second run.
Since suffering the knee injury, Inzamam has been treated in all
the leading medical clinics in Karachi and Lahore. All necessary
X-rays and tests have been carried out but because of Pakistan
cricket teams busy international commitments, Inzamam has been
unable to undergo the required treatment and rest.
Although it has been assured that Inzamam will play in the World
Cup and the knee injury will not stop the talented batsman to
wield his exploits, it is necessary that proper medication is
taken at this hour before it gets out of hand and Inzamam bows
out of international cricket like many other stars in the past.
