Scorecard
Dheeraj Jadhav, the opening batsman from Maharashtra, struck an excellent 163 not out to help India A to 344 for 3 on the first day of their three-day game against Kenya, at the Simba Union Ground in Nairobi. It was a frustrating day for the bowlers, who struggled to make headway after picking up the early wicket of Naman Ojha.
Ojha was caught by Lameck Onyango, off the bowling of Peter Ongondo, for 17, with the score on 24. But any hopes Kenya would have had of making further inroads were dashed as Mahendra Dhoni got stuck into the bowling, smashing a quickfire fifty off just 30 balls, including 10 fours. He was eventually out for 78, off 65 balls, having added 138 runs with Jadhav.
Jadhav motored on in the company of the patient Sridharan Sriram (26 off 92) and Ambati Rayudu (39 not out off 72), as India A put themselves in a commanding position by close of play. Kenya's main bowler was their main batsman, Steve Tikolo, who bowled 23 overs and took 1 for 74.
