Kaluwitharana felicitated
Sri Lanka wicket-keeper/batsman Romesh Kaluwitharana, an old boy
of St. Sebastian`s College, Moratuwa was felicitated by the
Moratuwa Urban Council and by his alma mater in Moratuwa on Monday.
At a ceremony organised by the Moratuwa UC, its chairman Thomson
J. Mendis presented Kaluwitharana with a brass oil lamp worth Rs.
6,000.
Provincial councillor Lushington Fernando spoke on behalf of
Deputy Sports Minister Jeevan Kumaratunga who was unable to attend the ceremony.
MP for Moratuwa and former president of the Sri Lanka Cricket
Board, Tyronne Fernando, also spoke in glowing terms of
Kaluwitharana`s batting exploits in Australia which won him three
`Man of the Match` awards and put Sri Lanka in the Benson and
Hedges World Series Cup final against Australia.
Kaluwitharana was later felicitated by his school.
