Vinod Kambli has done his chances no good by opting out of the Mumbai team
for the Wills Trophy. The talented south paw notched up a hundred against
Saurashtra in the last match he played and yet has pulled out of the Wills
Trophy citing 'personal reasons.' Kambli's chances of being recalled to
the Indian side are now bleak. The selectors seem to have settled on a
policy of picking only youngsters for the middle order. Vijay Bharadwaj,
Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Jacob Martin are those in the selectors' favour
right now. It is perplexing however that Kambli should pull out of the
Wills Trophy just after he stroked a fine hundred against Saurashtra. The
Mumbai batsman would do well to get fit, stay focussed and strive hard to
make it back to the Indian team.
