Kent Street Senior High School make tour to Hong Kong

A tour group of specialist cricketing students from the Kent Street Senior High School in Perth, Western Australia arrive in Hong Kong on Saturday to play a three match cricket series against local opposition including the Hong Kong Under 19's as part of their Asian tour.

The Kent Street Senior High School is unusual in that in 1988 it became a Specialist Cricket School developed in partnership with the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) and the first school in Australia to develop a full time vocational sport educational program.

Since embarking on this program the School has produced several players who have gone on to represent Western Australia at state level, Australia at international level and over 70 graduates who have played First Grade cricket.

The school has also developed some fine cricketing facilities, including turf wickets.

"We're very pleased to welcome the Kent Street Senior High School tour group to Hong Kong," said Hong Kong Cricket Association, Mr Clive Howard.

"HKCA has excellent cricketing links throughout the world which we continually seek to develop further.

"Kent Street School has an enviable reputation for cricketing excellence and the chance for our young players to compete against some of the best up and coming cricketers in the world is a marvellous opportunity," Mr Howard continued.

The tour party consists of 25 players and teachers from Kent High Street Senior School and officials from the WACA.

Independent Cricket Clubs Association of Hong Kong vs Kent High Street Senior School at Mission Road.

Tuesday 4th July
Hong Kong Under 19's vs Kent High Street Senior School at Po Kong Village Road 1

Wednesday 5th July
Hong Kong Under 23's vs Kent High Street Senior School at Mission Road

Matches on 2nd & 4th commence at 10.30am and at 9.30 on the 5th. All will be 50 overs.

Many of the touring students are also qualified cricket coaches and they will be introduced to the HKCA Cricket Development projects in Hong Kong schools during their stay.

The tour party will also be making trips to Kowloon Cricket Club, Disneyland and Macau as part of their tour of Asia.
