Centurion: Northerns coach Peter Kirsten is not too impressed with
SuperSport's almost cavalier attitude of how they handled the TV
operations on Sunday afternoon and in a competition as well as at a
venue which carries their brand name.
At 2pm the TV cameras stopped rolling, which left the umpires, Danny
Becker and Rudi Koertzen without the use of the monitor to judge line
decisions on the final afternoon of the game.
As rowdy, loud-mouthed camera staff crowded the media centre before
being asked to leave, the Northerns A Section game against Border
continued with the umpires denied the use of cameras for the line
decisions. Whether this is in violation of the agreement between the
UCB and the pay station is uncertain, but Kirsten was certainly
unimpressed by the blackout, as were the umpires, although they made
no comment.
Northerns are likely to have five members in the combined side with
Gauteng for the three-day game against Sri Lanka A at the Wanderers
later this week.
Opener Quentin Still, middle-order batsmen Johan Myburgh and the
in-form Neil McKenzie are likely to be three of the five along with
possibly David Townsend.
Gauteng's captain Clive Eksteen is not available to lead the side so
Nic Pothas is likely to be handed the role for the game.
