1 Number of batsmen to score 150 or more in a Test innings against Australia at an younger age than Mendis' 21 years and 177 days. Graeme Pollock scored 175, at the age of 19 years and 331 days, at the Adelaide Oval in 1963-64 is the youngest to score 150-plus against Australia.
0 Number of Sri Lanka batsman who scored a Test century against Australia at a younger age than Kusal Mendis. The previous youngest was Romesh Kaluwitharana who hit unbeaten 132 at the age of 22 years and 267 days in Colombo (SSC) in 1992.
137 The previous highest score by a Sri Lanka in home Tests against Australia, which was by Asanka Gurusinha in Colombo (SSC) in 1992. Mendis beat that score and his score of 169*, at the end of the third day, is 23 runs short of Kumar Sangakkara's 192 which is the highest for Sri Lanka against Australia. Mendis' score is so far the second-highest maiden century for a Sri Lanka batsman; Brendon Kuruppu's unbeaten 201 is the highest.
2006 The last time a Sri Lanka batsman younger than Mendis scored a Test century - Upul Tharanga made 165 at the age of 21 years and 34 days against Bangladesh in Bogra. Mendis' unbeaten 167 (at the end of the third day) is the second-highest by a Sri Lanka batsman ageing 21 or less. This was only Mendis' second century in first-class career of 24 matches.
3 Number of Sri Lanka batsmen who reached their maiden Test century with a six, including Mendis. The previous two were Duleep Mendis, against India in Chennai in 1982, and Aravinda de Silva, against Pakistan in Faisalabad in 1985-86.
117 Runs added by Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal for the fifth wicket, which is the third-highest partnership for Sri Lanka against Australia for the wicket. This was the Sri Lanka's first 50-plus partnership of the match.
3 Number of right-arm offspinners from non-Asian teams to take 200 or more Test wickets, including Nathan Lyon who dismissed Dhananjaya de Silva as his 200th victim. The two other non-Asian right arm offspinners to achieve this were Lance Gibbs (309 wickets) and Graeme Swann (255). No other Australia offspinner has taken even 150 Test wickets; Hugh Trumble's 141 are the next best. Among Australia bowlers only Peter Siddle (58 Tests) took more matches to complete 200 wickets than Lyon who took 55 Tests.
3 Instances of a team's top-three getting out for single-digit scores in both innings at home. Before Sri Lank in this Test, India against West Indies in Kanpur in 1983-84 and Bangladesh against India in Dhaka in 2007 had this dubious feat. This was the first such instance for Sri Lanka and sixth for any team.
28 Runs added by the first two wickets in the first three innings of this Test - fourth-lowest in any Test and second-lowest in a Test in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's first two wickets added 15 runs in the first innings and six runs in their second while Australia's first two wickets in their first innings added seven runs.
8 Bowlers used by Australia in the second innings - most by them against Sri Lanka in Tests. They had used seven bowlers on nine occasions.
