In the local league in Bulawayo, Queens thrashed Jimbos, a young predominately black side that only plays in the local league, by 330 runs. Queens proved far too strong, batting first and totalling 405 for eight in their 50 overs, with Jimbos 75 all out. In-form Ryan King and Stuart Walker led the way with a century opening stand, King scoring 102 and Walker a fluent 85. Warren Gilmour scored an aggressive 50 which helped Queens score at 8.1 runs an over. Unfortunately this result is not good for cricket as neither side really enjoys such a one-sided game.
Meanwhile Bulawayo Development caused the biggest upset when they defeated Bulawayo Sports Club by five wickets. BSC were all out for 105 and the development side lost only five wickets in scoring 107 and securing a good victory.
A change of fortunes came for Macdonald Club at last when they beat BAC by 6 wickets. On winning the toss BAC elected to bat, and a poor batting performance saw them all out for 122 in 28 overs with Hilton Price taking three for 12 in only eight overs. Mac Club scored 123 for four with former Academy player Wisdom Siziba scoring 53 after being bowled off a no-ball before he had scored.
The Logan Cup squad is now training in earnest for the forthcoming competition which begins in Bulawayo for the home team on 15 February.
