A photo of a professional sportsman standing in an ice bucket in his pants is always likely to provoke the masses into assuming their path to stand-up comedian stardom is imminent. Especially when that person is English, a cricketer and keeps wicket for his country; Geraint Jones.
"Yes, injuries have caught us with our trousers down," said Viji who was one of hundreds to take a similar line of thought, while Qatargsa was one of thousands speaking the bleeding obvious: "It's cool down under but hot up here."
Tickling though these initial entries were, Neil Foster's acutely cynical line of thought is no doubt matched by most England fans; "I just can't get my feet moving at the moment." We've yet to receive confirmation that the entrant was the former England and Essex fast bowler.
Jones' fumbles in the first Test, disappointing though they were, weren't part of Dilantha Gunawardana's thoughts, who provided a medley of abstract ideas about Jones' position in the ice bucket. "Now I know what a straw feels like!" was a taste of his surrealism, followed by: "To think that this was a dustbin. This is what they call English versatility."
Few players have been likened to a flower - apart from those two Zimbabwean brothers - but Robert Tolhurst showed promise: "Geraintus Jones: a slow growing coniferous plant which requires a wet and shaded environment away from direct sunlight." Blooming good effort, Robert.
Talking of lemons, not that we were, Steve Howe hinted at his insatiable thirst for watching England battle against India with our winning entry: "Captain Flintoff orders a very large gin & tonic with ice and a complete lemon in it." Superb. Congratulations Steve, and enjoy the books.
We'll have another competition for you on Thursday for the second Test.
