The rain which caused so much disruption in the early weeks of the Minor Counties season returned with a vengeance on the penultimate weekend of the divisional programme.
No play was possible on the opening days at Falmouth or Pontarddulais, while Cheshire and Berkshire were washed out after only 38 minutes at Neston. Northumberland's game with Buckinghamshire managed to get to tea - visiting skipper Paul Atkins carrying his bat for an unbeaten 88 towards his side's 186 all out - but Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire survived virtually unscathed at Southill Park.
Neither managed a batting point as Cambridgeshire scored 162 for five off 52.2 overs in reply to Bedfordshire's 167 for eight off 66.
