Mishra bowls North to an emphatic win over East

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra bowled North Zone to a 67-run win over East Zone in the Deodhar Trophy tie between the two sides that was played at Bangalore's MA Chinnaswamy stadium on Monday.

In the morning, North skipper Reetinder Singh Sodhi won the toss and promptly elected to bat. Opener Akash Chopra (60) and middle-order bat Mithun Manhas (77) ensured that their team ended up with a respectable 238/5 in their 50 overs.

When East began their reply, they lost their openers very quickly. But then Devang Gandhi (36 off 27 balls) provided some much-needed fillip to his side helping them reach 57 in the eighth over before becoming the third wicket to fall.

With the rest of the batsmen with the exception of Subhomoy Das (42 off 69) struggling against Mishra (5-20 off 9.2 overs), East, however, went on to fall way short of the target.

The emphatic win gained North five points.
