Moeen at No. 7, and England's fastest innings against Pakistan

1938 The last time before Moeen Ali that a batsman made a hundred at The Oval batting at No. 7, when Joe Hardstaff (jnr) made 169 not out in the 1938 Ashes. Ali's was just the fourth hundred by a No. 7 batsman in Tests at the Oval.

The previous highest was Ian Botham's average of 70.66 in the 1978 series against Pakistan. Botham made 212 runs from three innings in that series.
