Islamabad, Oct 20: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board ad hoc
committee Mujeebur Rehman who was elected as president of
Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA) continues to hold the post
despite the completion of tenure on Jan 6, 1998.
According to a press release issued by the former secretary of
ICA, Jawadul Hassan, Mujeeb made no reservations that anyone
trying to oppose him will face dire consequences during the ICA
General Council meeting convened nearly seven months after the
completion of his first tenure at Islamabad Club.
The former ICA official said that since most of the clubs
affiliated with ICA are run by government officials, the fear of
victimisation kept them mum over some of the unconstitutional
actions taken by the present head of PCB ad hoc committee.
Jawad had to pay the price of voicing protest against Mujeeb. The
former secretary said that it was very interesting to note that
while various associations were being restored by Mujeeb he never
restored Islamabad.
The former secretary called upon the authorities to act swiftly
in changing the non-technical and dictatorial set up created by
Mujeeb, whose hand-picked puppets were running the show.
