Mullally has rib operation in Australia

Hampshire's left arm fast bowler Alan Mullally is having a rib operation, in Perth, Australia tommorrow (Thursday).

Mullally has been troubled with the side problem for a couple of years, and has led to him missing much of past season, inclding his place in the England setup.

He will be sidelined for six weeks, but will resume training in the new year in preparation for the 2003 season.
