Neisha Pratt scored her maiden international century as Hong Kong Women beat Japan Women by 88 runs in the first game of their three match series at Hong Kong Cricket Club today. Pratt scored an impressive 163 not out as Hong Kong amassed 284-2 from their 50 overs. Connie Wong (22) and Keenu Gill (37) were the only wickets to fall in a polished display, with Betty Chan finishing on 21 not out. For Japan, skipper Ema Kuribayashi grabbed 2-25 in her ten over spell that included 3 maidens.
The left-handed Kuribayashi then demonstrated her prowess with the bat as she scored 94 not out in her team's reply. She received good support from opener Mariko Yamamoto, who contributed 41 runs to the total. Although never threatening Hong Kong's total, the Japanese Women stuck to their task and were eventually dismissed for 196 from the penultimate ball of the 50th over. For Hong Kong, Godiva Li and Ishitaa Gidwani both picked three wickets while Connie Wong and Betty Chan grabbed one each.
The second match in the series will be played at Kowloon Cricket Club on Friday, 10th October 2008, with the final match at Mission Road on Sunday, 12th October 2008.
