New Zealand v Zimbabwe ODI 2000-01

At Gymkhana, Nairobi, October 9

15-Apr-2002
At Gymkhana, Nairobi, October 9. New Zealand won by 64 runs.
Toss: Zimbabwe.
New Zealand's first match set the pattern for their tournament: canny bowling, light-fingered fielding, and plenty of runs from Twose. A fifth-wicket stand of 95 between Twose and McMillan set them on the way to 265 for seven, but Zimbabwe were very much in the game at 88 for one. Then came the turning-point. Campbell, on 47, was ruled lbw as he swept at Harris, even though the ball seemed to hit him outside off stump. Campbell's apoplectic reaction earned him a one-match suspension from referee Cammie Smith. Carlisle hung around for 67, but seven of his team-mates failed to reach double figures and the match ended with 7.4 overs to spare as Wiseman collected his fourth wicket.

Man of the Match: R. G. Twose.
