KARACHI, Sept 22: The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board
(PCB), Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah Bokhari, called on President
Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari in Islamabad on Saturday.
According to well informed sources in the federal capital, the
meeting lasted nearly 30 minutes. However, details of the
meeting were not known. Bokhari returned to Lahore on Sunday.
Sources said President Leghari had called the PCB chairman and
it is anticipated that the meeting might have revolved around
the forthcoming international matches to be played in the
1997-98 season. The 1997-98 season has been billed as the golden
jubilee of Pakistan season and the cricket board has done all
possible efforts to make the occasion a memorable one.
Heavyweights like world champions Sri Lanka, West Indies, South
Africa and traditional rivals India will be playing here.
Zulfiqar Bokhari, when contacted in Lahore on Monday, said the
meeting took up several issues, including cricket. "But we also
discussed district politics and agriculture. The President was
curious about cotton crop and its production. "As far as cricket
is concerned, he inquired about the performance of the team and
by and large was satisfied," he said.
