KARACHI, June 13: Arch-rivals Pakistan and India may play a
series of one-day games in United States of America to further
give a boost to the sport in the country, President, California
Pacific Cricket League, Faizul Hasan, said on Friday.
Hasan, a Pakistan-born American national, said the two
neighbours were scheduled to play in the mid of this year "but
because of elections in the US cricket body scheduled in August,
the plan had to be revised." Hasan hoped that the two countries
were now expected to play games later this year.
Pakistan and India have played a couple of friendly matches in
America in the past but those games were promotional ones. "The
two are one of the best sides in the world and when they meet,
they generate a lot of interest amongst cricket followers.
Besides, the American locals will learn a lot by watching the
two star sides."
Hasan stated that cricket was on a way leading to great future
in America. "The local clubs are taking more interest and the
government is creating more facilities. Disney World has started
survey to construct an exclusive cricket stadium in Florida
which has one of the biggest concentration of cricket clubs in
US," he said.
He added that cricket has also attracted some of the leading
commercial companies. "The US team that took part in the ICC
Trophy at Kuala Lumpur was also an sponsored one. It is being
hoped that in the near future, all the 500 active clubs will
have their own sponsors."
