Pakistan: Preliminary round trials for Asian U-17 cricket

Lahore, May 16: The preliminary round of trials to select Pakistan team for the Asian Under-17 Cricket Tournament will start here at the Gadhafi Stadium from May 24.

The Asian competition is scheduled to be held in Sindh from July 15 to 30 under the auspices of the International Cricket Council. The PCB is rendering its cooperation and support for this event in conjunction with the ICC Development Office for Asia region established at Karachi.

After holding a series of trials throughout the country, the final trials will be held at the Gadhafi Stadium from June 17 to 19.

The PCB retained all those selectors who recently conducted the similar trials for the Under-15 team.

Ehteshamuddin has been named incharge for the Punjab and the NWFP regions. He will be assisted by Azhar Khan and Agha Zahid in Punjab and Maazullah Khan Farrukh Zaman and Jalil in NWFP, excluding Abbotabad.

Former Test leg-spinner Iqbal Qasim will be the incharge for the Sindh and Balochistan provinces. Excluding Karachi, Aftab Baluch, Tauseef Ahmad and Taslim Arif will assist Iqbal Qasim in Sindh. Abdul Raqueeb will assist Iqbal Qasim in Karachi. Malik Khair Mohammad, Younis Ata and Aftab Balouch will assist him in Balochistan.

For Abbotabad and Rawalpindi areas the trials will be conducted by Ehteshamddin, Iqbal Qasim, Agha Zahid and Azhar Khan. The PCB chief selector Wasim Bari will be the overall incharge of the trials.

All the probables will come with white kit and will also bring their birth certificates and "B" Form.

Following is the schedule of the trials:

May 24-25: Qadhafi Stadium, Lahore.

May 29: Bahawalpur Stadium.

May 30: MCC Stadium, Multan (probables from Dera Ghazi Khan will also appear).

May 31 and June 1: Biscuit Factory, Sahiwal (Probables from Okara will also appear).

June 3-4: Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala (Probables from Sialkot will also appear).

June 5: Sheikhupura Stadium.

June 6-7: Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad (Probables from Sargodha will also appear).

June 9: Dera Ismail Khan.

June 10: Probables only from Bannu will appear at Dera Ismail Khan.

June 11: Shahi Bagh, Peshawar (Only probables from Mardan and Swat will appear).

June 12: Shahi Bagh Stadium, Peshawar (Only probables from Peshawar will appear in the evening and from Kohat in the morning session).

June 13: Abbotabad.

June 14-15: Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi.

May 29 and 30: At Hyderabad (The probables from Mirpur Khas will also appear).

May 31: At Larkana (Probables from Sukkur will also appear).

June 1 to 3: Karachi.

June 4: At Quetta (The probables from Sibi, Kalat and Mardan will appear).

June 5: Quetta.
